VVS1 and 2 represent diamonds that are extremely clear with any marks very hard to see even under a microscope. VS1 and 2 are also very clear. In fact, it is only when we reach P1 (I1) that marks become slightly noticeable. I would generally advise to keep to SI clarity, which by definition should not have any marks visible with the naked eye. In particularly large diamonds, these marks may be slightly visible however. The cut of diamond is also important when looking at engagement rings. Try to ensure that the diamond is close to the typical measurements for the weight (mm size charts are found online.) A good or very good cut will ensure that the stone handles light well. Expect to pay a premium for ideal cut diamond engagement rings.

With a little research, you will no doubt find a perfect engagement ring. One final word of advice would be regarding timescale. Remember to leave plenty of time, ideally at least 2-3 weeks to order your ring, since many are made to your requirements and undergo several stages whilst being made.
